Our programs

Skills, health, schooling — and now, care in old age.

Four programmes, run continuously in the same communities so that families see the same faces year after year.

Programme 01

Vocational Training Centre, Jhargram

In collaboration with Jhargram Hope Foundation, RSK launched a sewing training programme to help women from nearby villages build skills for self-employment and supplementary income.

  • Garment stitching and finishing
  • Skills for self-employment
  • Two cohorts of 12 women each in 2025–26

Who can join

Programme 02

Medical & Health Support

RSK brings preventative healthcare closer to Jhargram communities through free medical, eye and bone-health camps, reducing the cost and travel that often delay treatment.

In 2025–26, activities included medical and eye check-ups, a senior citizens' bone-health camp with the Indian Orthopedic Association, and a blood donation camp with free general check-ups.

What we run

  • General village health camps with free medicines
  • Eye screening and cataract operation referrals
  • Bone and orthopaedic check-up camps for elders
  • Follow-up visits by local volunteers after treatment

Reach so far

  • 115 eye patients operated on during 2025–26
  • 101 people treated at the February 2026 eye screening camp
  • 78 pairs of spectacles supplied free of cost
  • 5,744 patients served by the Kolkata polyclinic

Programme 03

Children's Education

Children in our villages usually start school. The difficulty is staying. Our education work concentrates on the years when families are most likely to withdraw a child — through after-school tutoring, learning materials and small scholarships.

[Programme details are editable — schedules, partner schools and scholarship criteria will be expanded as the programme grows.]

How it works

  • After-school tutoring circles run by local volunteers
  • Notebooks, uniforms and geometry boxes before each session
  • Small scholarships for secondary and higher-secondary students
  • Coordination with village school teachers on attendance

Impact

  • 1000+ children supported to continue their education
  • Supplies distributed across six village schools
  • Focus on girls staying in school past class eight

Programme 04 — in development

Coming soon

Old-Age Home Initiative, Jhargram

As young people migrate for work, elders in our villages are increasingly left alone — often with untreated conditions and no one nearby. Our next chapter is a dedicated residential home in Jhargram offering a safe place to live and continued medical support.

A site near Jhargram town has been identified and the first phase is being costed. Construction will begin only once funding for that phase is secured, and progress will be published in our updates and annual reports.

Planned facilities

  • Residential rooms for elders with limited family support
  • A small on-site clinic room and visiting doctor schedule
  • Shared dining, prayer and community space
  • A kitchen garden maintained by residents

How to support it

  • Sponsor a room or a year of a resident's care
  • CSR partnership for the first construction phase
  • In-kind support: beds, medical equipment, furniture
  • Request the concept note from our secretary
